    Orienteering: A Great, Outdoors Scandi Adventure for ALL!

    Welcome to the 2026 SPRING orienteering season in Columbus, Ohio, fellow Scandinavians! On Saturday, April 25, Central Ohio Orienteers (COO) will have its second 2026 event at Battelle Darby (Indian Ridge area) Metro Park (Check the COO website for the best park entrance and the start/registration location.) Check-in is from 11am to 1 pm. Check here and on the COO website or COO Facebook pages for updates. 


    Spring will be beautiful or likely wet! Dress accordingly! We've had a good turnout on March 29, 2026 (in spite of flooding)! Let's keep it up! We're glad to have you join us.

    Event Logistics 

    Look for conspicuous signage at events, typically a large white/orange square at the park entrance and another near the reserved shelter/park section where the club starts and finishes. Electronic punching will be available on the long, advanced courses. We will still offer traditional, manual red "paper punches".

    Start your walk or run between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. If possible, let's meet at 11 a.m. at the start or see you on the trail. BTW, volunteers are welcome!

    No charge for Metro Park events, but COO (Central Ohio Orienteers) accepts donations.

    Come celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day with us! We'll be meeting at the IKEA on Polaris (1900 Ikea Way) on Saturday, May 16th from 10:30am to 12:30pm in the southeast corner of the restaurant. Setup starts at 10:00 AM. Volunteers are welcome.


    There will be lots of friendly conversation, a fun parade with the Norwegian flag with kids and Norwegian Bunads and all who want to parade, an invitation to bring and share a single Norwegian or Scandinavian treasure (smaller than a breadbox) with Scandinavian friends and new colleagues. At 11:30 LUNCH will be available for purchase at the IKEA restaurant. Beverages, including coffee, and reasonable Scandinavian-style lunch (NOT breakfast) would be attractive to many. We hope we get the chance to celebrate with you!

  • 🇪🇺 Eurovision Song Contest Finals Watch Party 🎤

    Join us for a fun-filled afternoon as we watch the Eurovision Song Contest Finals live from Vienna! Whether you're a die-hard fan or just curious, come celebrate with fellow Eurovision lovers and cheer on your favorite Nordic contenders.

    Highlights:

    Watch the delayed live broadcast — the program starts around 2:00 PM, with performances beginning at approximately 3:00 PM. And it runs approximately 4 hours, stay as long or as little as you'd like!

    Cash bar available. Please bring a snack to share.

    Suggested donation: $10/person to help cover the cost of the venue.

    Children are welcome, but some performances may contain mature content—parents should use discretion when bringing children.

    Hosted in collaboration with the Columbus Scandinavian Club, Germania Society, and the Columbus Maennerchor.

    Midsommar

    Under the lingering midsummer sun, Alum Creek Sailing Association will transform into a slice of Scandinavia for our annual Midsommar Festival. Join us on the shoreline to weave garlands, dress the maypole with fresh greenery, and dance to traditional Scandi folk tunes.

    The club will provide a hearty Scandinavian entrée, and we invite you to contribute a favorite side dish or dessert to complete the feast. Friendly lawn games and sing-along rounds of “Små grodorna” welcome all ages, while twilight storytelling by the bonfire caps the evening.

    Browse our Scandi Shop—a pop-up market of hand-picked Scandinavian housewares, textiles, and keepsakes available, with proceeds supporting club programs.

    Bring family, friends, and plenty of midsummer cheer as we honor age-old traditions, strengthen community ties, and create fresh memories on the water. Skål to summer!
